The Rice Microbiome Project was formed to address critical questions in agriculture. Much like humans, plants host a large diversity of bacteria. Many studies have shown single bacterial species and strains to be beneficial in support of plant growth and yield; however these studies ignore the larger diversity of bacteria that cohabitate with these single beneficial microbes, i.e. the microbiome.
